Compare and contrast the use of different platforms and formats used by the public for delivering interactive media products.

Webpages are a great platform for delivering direct information on a multitude of different devices. They give users quick access to content and can be used while at home or on the go. This has lead to many companies to create their own webpages that help users access information about the products or content they sell. One example of this is the Tesco's customer website, which can be used to access information about their company and also find specific products that they would sell in store. The website is useful to users as it can be easily shared and accessed, and offers online shopping to users on the website. A webpage is useful for users as it allows them to access information about the shopping Centre, without needing to visit the shop and use a kiosk, this could benefit people who have trouble leaving their house or are unable to walk.

However, a point could be made that shows how apps are more useful than Webpages. Firstly, apps are much more easy to access than webpages, as they can be used on the go, on multiple devices. For some users, it may be easier to find and use a news app from the App Store, rather than search one up on the web. This could be useful for people who may be unable to see or may find it difficult to use Safari or Google, meaning its more accessible to people with disabilities than a webpage; most apps nowadays include accessibility features that can be switched on and of by the user too. Plus, a news app like SKY News offer direct access to the same features and more, on the app variant of the product. This incentivises users to use it more frequently so they can access these new features that aren't prevalent on the SKY News webpage. The use of apps has increased throughout the years due to the advancements in technology that have been made in recent years, this means that apps have been able to produce more content and allow more users to watch their content. As technology continues to grow, I believe that apps are going to become more connected with the user and their application, a statement from Bill Gates in a 2015 interview states that in the future "all of our devices and applications would work together", and that the "cloud" would let us store more information that could be used within seconds [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r9u_R0cCew]. However, even with this the file size of apps could be too big for some users to download, and even though most people own 4G nowadays, some users may not have the means to access an app on the go (But this is similar to webpages as they also require connectivity to a source of internet.)

Blogs are a great platform for publishing content that you create. It allows users to edit their work and comment on other peoples blogs, allowing interaction between users which can form the creation of communities and friendships. While a lot of apps and webpages include communication and connectivity features, Blogging websites were pioneers of these features, and they can be used on the go on a multitude of devices, as long as the user is connected to the internet or using their 4G. Blogger is a popular blogging website that I use as a student, It includes many features like account blocking, and moderation that disallow trolls and bully's from ruing the experience for the user. This makes the platform more inclusive for users who make be prone to bullying and makes it a safe space for students trying to complete their work. However, many people (including me) believe that blogs have become an outdated platform. Haiden. S, 2021 stated that Blogs have become outdated due to the introduction of social media like Twitter, and Facebook. This is because they include features that are similar to blogging platforms, such as comments and integrated communication. I believe that young audiences use apps like Twitter as a personal blogger to talk about their lives. This is because they offer more accessibility and feature more integrated connection between users, than a blogging platform. However, I would also state that this leads to an increase to trolling and cyberbullying, but more communication means that people are able to form communities and groups that talk about topics they enjoy. Even with this, many people believe that blogging isn't a dead platform. Dietz. R 2021 talks in her blog about how blogging platforms aren't dead yet, as they are still a useful source to edit and publish content on the internet, without it getting lost in the social media landscape. Personally, I believe that social media is a more useful and accessible platform for publishing personal web logs. As it is easy to access and allows the introduction of more communication features that can let users and commercial company's interact more often. However, I do believe this also increases the amount of trolls and bully's that can ruin the experience for other users, but features like blocking and reporting are able to deter enough people from doing this.
